If you are looking for a seasoned counselor who provides a safe, warm, and very positive atmosphere, I would be delighted to have you as a client. I believe in ‘starting where my client is at’ and joining forces to find the best path forward. It is vital to establish goals in order to move forward on that positive path, and I would be honored to walk with you.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, I graduated from Wayne State University in 1980 and relocated to this area in 1983. I have extensive experience in both health and mental health care settings. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings including with the severely mentally ill. I worked for many years for Hospice as Social Worker and Bereavement Coordinator.
I have a special interest in helping those with chronic illness, caregiver stress and grief. I was co-founder of the local Parkinson Association in 1991 and remain a Board member today. I have facilitated multiple support groups for Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and caregivers.
My experience with Hospice has helped me appreciate the importance of living each day the best we can until the day we die. “It’s about living not dying”.
I have a fondness for seniors, but also enjoy helping adults of all ages.
I am a firm believer in the power of the therapeutic relationship to effect change and of the resiliency of the human spirit.
