I received my Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couples & Family Counseling, from Stetson University. I have primarily worked with adolescents from ages 5 through 18, including individual as well as couples and family sessions. While pursuing my Master’s Degree I worked in public schools as an art teacher for five years, where I became well-versed in Art Education practices and interventions with students. I love to incorporate art therapy techniques into my sessions with clients.
I take a person-centered approach and love working with couples, families, and children, of all ages, to help them navigate and cope with challenges in their life. Being a person-centered therapist means that I believe the client is the expert in their own life and I make sure that the client is the sole focus during the session. I collaborate with my clients to see what goals they seek in counseling, how I can support them, and offer tools and resources for their continued success.
With evidence-based tools, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family System theory, and psychoeducational, my goal is to help clients better understand themselves, feel happier, and more fulfilled as a person, partners, and individuals. I’m trained in the Gottman Method, an approach that is evidenced based for how to make relationships work and I’m a Certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, the #1 assessment tool for premarital counseling.
What my clients will find, during a session, is my ability to give them unconditional positive regard. I adapt very well to my client’s needs, by not necessarily imposing clinical methods of care but by bringing forth my knowledge of the mind, emotions, relationships, and therapeutic techniques to the session. I look forward to supporting them in any way I can.
